Columbo the Great Horned Owl arrived at Back To Nature Wildlife Refuge on January 21, 1995. She came in as an adult from Village Animal Hospital in Palm Bay. She had sustained injury to her right eye & it was believed to have been the result of a gunshot, causing her eye to be removed. Based on their sight to locate prey, Columbo would not have been able to survive on her own. This collaborative artwork by V. Steiner for Back To Nature Wildlife Refuge is a good reminder of what happens when humans interfere with the natural order of the forest.
